  1. Chambers of Oleksa Dovbush on Synytsi mountain (1186 m) – easy one-day route, 14 km long. Duration of the trip is 8 hours. The route leads to the mountain which is called Dovbushanka by the Huzuls. They say that there is a door to the land of the dead in that place. There is a special canyon on the mountain range – the natural geological monument of the local significance. There are underground caves, majestic stone blocks – the product of weathering of the Yamnets sandstones. As legends say, Carpathian avengers – opryshky – headed by their leader Oleksa Dovbush, had their hiding shelters and spent winters here. They built their churches underground.

  1. 2. Mountain Pysanyi Kamin (1221 m) – is also a natural geological monument of the local significance. The top of this mountain is crowned with the huge multi-storey house-size stone block. This is the memorable place where our ancestors had their pre-Christian pagan sanctuary. Ivan Franko, Mykhaylo Kotsyubynskyi, Olga Kobylyanska, Vasyl Stefanyk and other famous people of art and literature often visited Pysanyi Kamin. Here on the stone they left their autographs, like many other famous people of all times and nationalities. The route is 14 km long and its duration is 6-7 hours. You can see the wonderful scenery of the Pokuttya-Bukovyna Carpathians from the top of this mountain.

  1. Mountain Krenta (1359 m) – one of the highest of the Hryniava Range. It is located close to Verkhovyna settlement. The route to the mountain goes along the mountain canyon of the river Zhabyevskyi Potik and small waterfall cascades. Next to the mountain top there is an alpine meadow with the same name, and in summer the closest to Verkhovyna alpine farm is situated here. Cattle-breeders will ask you to taste the Huzul cheese, vurda, brynza and hulyanka. These dairy products can be bought and taken with you. The route is 16 km long, its duration is 7-8 hours.

  1. Lake Nesamovyte (1750 m) is a picturesque glacial lake in the centre of the Chornohora Range. It is located at the altitude of 1750 meters above sea level. The route goes on the unique subalpine landscapes and untouched forests, with no timber cutting works. In a good weather the relic karling ranges of the Major and Minor Kizly can be seen. You can also visit Pozhyzhevska alpine meadow where the highest in Ukraine biological station of the Carpathians Ecology Institute and the avalanche research station are situated. The route is 13 km long with the duration of 7-8 hours.

  1. Mountain Hoverla (2061 m) – is the highest mountain of the Ukrainian Carpathians and the whole Ukraine. Total length of the route is 8 km and its duration is about 5 to 6 hours. You can see unforgettable scenery of the Ukrainian and Marmarosian (Romanian) Carpathians from the top of the mountain.

  1. Mountain Bila Kobyla (1477 m) – is the third highest mountain of the Pokuttya-Bukovyna Carpathians. The route goes through the highest residential area of Verkhovyna settlement – Velykyi Pryslip, which is located at the altitude of 1250 meters above sea level. The summit of the mountain is crowned with huge stone blocks which creates a non-typical mountain landscape. The wonderful Chornohora views can be observed from the top, as well as Verkhovyna tectonic basin and other parts of the Carpathians.

  1. Mountain Kostrycha (1586 m) – the highest top of the mountain range which extends close and parallel to the Chornohora Range. The climbing begins on the one of the highest passes in the Carpathians – Kryvopillya pass, at the altitude of 961 m. above sea level. The route goes through the primitive spruce forest. The fascinating and unique panorama of all Chornohora summits can be observed from the top. The route is 12 km long and takes 7 to 8 hours.

  1. Hadzhyna alpine meadow is the most picturesque meadow in the Ukrainian Carpathians. It is located on several levels; it takes three hanging valleys and more than ten kars, circuses and mountain amphitheatres, trough valleys, potholes, which have been created due to the ancient Pleistocene ice-covering. Rocky walls of Rebra, Shpytsi, Brebeneskul summits have rich relic and endemic vegetation, unique sub-alpine and alpine landscapes. The route starts in the distant mountain village Bystrets and takes 8 to 10 hours, it is 18 km long.

  1. Mountain Pip Ivan (2028 m) – is a historical mountain known to almost everyone. Its summit has the ruins of the old Polish meteorological observatory. Pip Ivan is the third highest mountain in Ukraine. The route onto it is interesting, but difficult. Level difference here is more than 1200 meters. Duration of the trip is 10-12 hours, the length is 22 km. Tourists will have a possibility to visit several Carpathian meadows, to see the unique waterfall cascades under Mountain Smotrych, to look round the stone sculptures of Mountain Vukhatyi Kamin and of course the ruins of the observatory.

  1. Lake Maricheyka (1510 m) – is a beautiful kar lake which is located in a picturesque kar under Mountain Shuryn in the upper boundary of the forest at the altitude of 1510 meters above sea level. The route begins in one of the remotest villages of the district – Shybene – and continues in the frontier zone in the territory of the Carpathian Reserved Forestry of the Carpathian National Nature Park.
